As a long time Linux user, I observed that folks using linux as a workstation OS for other purposes were more likely to use Fedora, while those who tended to frequently tweak with the OS (themes, etc) more often used Debian-based distros. I also observe that (too, IMO) distros seem preoccupied with trying to emulate Windows look and feel. No need to upgrade from version to version like some LTS distros. Rolling release distros are really convenient cause you don’t need to do fresh installs and re-setup everything from scratch again and again. Almost every Linux distro is suitable for coding. Choosing a distro is a matter of personal preference only. Just get started, get comfortable, learn the basics, and then you can learn all the other options available in Linux.
